How does Solamat Pool Heating System work?
Use the energy of the sun to heat the pool water by circulating the pool water through tubes lying in the sun, and back to your pool. For best results install the collector in a sunny area on your roof. The pool water is pumped through the solar collector tubes using your pool pump, or a separate solar pump, working from the grid or from solar pv panels.
The water in the solar collector is heated directly by the sun and returned to the pool, turning your pool into a giant heat sink. It’s that simple!
How much heat does Solamat generate?
As the Solamat system relies on the sun’s energy, the pool temperature is going to vary with the weather, time of the year, absorber area related to your pool’s surface area, and its location. Solar heating can work with a solar collector area from as little as 60% of your pool’s surface area, but we recommend 100% solar collector area for the best results.
Automatic temperature control allows you to set and forget the desired pool temperature, and enjoy your always-warm pool.
How much does Solamat cost to warm my pool?
Almost nothing! Once you have purchased and installed your Solamat Heating System the actual heat is free. You have no fuel costs like you do with gas, electric, or oil-burning heaters, as it collects the sun’s energy. The only running cost is the circulation pump, so it will not cost you much to keep your pool warm for many extra months each year.

Do-it-yourself Solamat Pool Heating Kits
Includes full installation instructions, the supply of all parts, assistance with the collector sizing, and phone helpline assistance. These are all included in the price. We also offer an optional final inspection and certification service in our local areas.
We recommend using the same surface area as that of your pool as the recommended amount of solar collector for most applications. Obviously, if you have sufficient roof space, increasing this amount results in better heating.
The manual D.I.Y. system uses your existing filter pump to pump the water through the solar collector and is best suited for single-story and smaller installations, up to 24 sqm, as it will put some extra load on your existing filter and pump.
For larger systems without dedicated solar inlets and outlets, we recommend using a booster pump, which operates in conjunction with the existing filter pump.
For pools with dedicated solar inlets and outlets a solar pump with a Lint Pot is required, (3/4 HP for single story /1HP for double-story homes).
An Automatic Solar Pump Controller will automate your system, turning your pump on when there is heat available, and heating to your desired temperature setting. For Booster systems use the SC2DT Digital controller as this will also control your filter pump.
All kits come with complete instructions and all components to install solar to your pool, the only added expense is 40mm pressure pipe which can be purchased locally from plumping outlets.
Install Solamat Pool Heating under PV panels to heat the pool and generate electricity.
Get double the benefit! The glass protects the pool heating from wind loss, and the water running through the pool heating collector under the PV panel cools the PV panel which operates at better efficiency.
