Wind Power Australia Regulators
Windpower series regulator 1 amp
These regulators do not require any form of external sensing for the presence of sunshine, hence there are only two circuits to complete. Internal electronics monitor the battery state of charge and the solar panel voltage. When the battery voltage drops to around 13 volts the regulator will call for charge. Providing there is sunshine on the solar panel this call will be answered and both the green charge LED and the relay will be turned on after a delay of about 6 seconds. This will cause current to flow to the battery. The battery voltage will rise until it reaches approimately 14.4 volts at which point the regulator will turn off the relay and the charge LED.
During the charging time the regulator will disconnect the solar panel from the battery every 20 minutes to determine the state of the solar panel output. Assuming there is charge available, 8 seconds later it will recommence charging. At the end of the day this same function will prevent the regulator from staying on all night.
